Worried about being able to eat while waist training? If you’ve been trying to lose weight unsuccessfully for years, isn’t this a wonderful problem to have?!
Nonetheless, I understand how that can be a very real concern. Eating while waist training can be a whole new experience - in a very good way.
Can I eat while waist training?
Yes, you can absolutely eat while waist training. You probably won’t be able to eat as much as usual, because your waist trainer will compress your middle, making it impossible to overeat. This reduction in calories you take in will definitely lead to weight loss if you are consistent with wearing your waist trainer every day. Yay!
So how should you change up your eating while waist training?
Eat healthy foods first.
As I mentioned earlier, wearing a waist trainer will constrict your tummy, making it difficult to eat large amounts of food. So don’t open a bag of chips for lunch - eat healthy foods, like veggies, fruits, and lean meats so that you are getting all of the nutrition you need from your (now) smaller meals. You can combine almost any diet with your waist trainer. As long as you are consistent with your diet and your waist trainer, you will lose weight. Eat plenty of fiber-rich foods.
Since your core will be compressed, you might experience some digestive issues, at least at first. Make sure you are taking in the right amount of fiber so that you don’t become constipated. Check out Do I Need More Fiber? to see how much fiber you need.
Include healthy snacks in your diet.
Since your meals will be much smaller while you are waist training, it might be challenging to get all of the nutrition you need from your meals alone. You may have to snack more to ensure you are getting the right amount of nutrition as you waist train.
Listen to your body.
This one is very important. If you have a bad habit of overeating, chances are that is more likely due to emotional reasons than to your being actually hungry. Now that you are wearing a waist trainer and feel physically full faster, it might be able to help you understand why you eat when you do. Are you actually hungry? Or are you feeling bored or some other emotion? The key to long term weight loss is understanding your unhealthy eating patterns so that you can change them.
Eating while waist training will be a different experience, but it will not be one you regret. Waist training will help you to make healthier food choices that will also help you change unhealthy behaviors permanently in the long term.
